HOW TO GEOTAG - Getting the Latitude and Longitude

Easy directions for finding the latitude and longitude (GEOTAG) of the location where you took a picture.

1. Get on-line and go to the web site http://itouchmap.com/latlong.html

2. (Left button)Click on the world map near Pennsylvania. That will center PA on the map.

3. Click on the control scale to zoom in on the map (+ on the bar zooms in)
4. Set the map type to HYBRID which will give you the roads and satellite imagery.

5. Re-center the map or use the cursor to drag the map to show the location where you took the photograph.

6. Once you have the location, left click with the mouse and a marker should appear.

7. The Latitude and Longitude are displayed in the lower left.

8. When you submit your photograph, include a note with the Latitude and longitude.

9. Either format is OK.    Decimal degrees or Degrees, Minutes, Seconds

The screen shot below has a marker on the Green in Montrose and the Latitude/Longitude for that location.

You can also use Google Earth or a GPS device to obtain the Latitude and Longitude.
