Apr 25 Trail Cleanup at the Highpoint Preserve
Help get summer going by joining us in cleaning up the trails at the Highpoint Preserve.

Bat Monitoring Program
Activity: Observing and counting bats as the emerge for the evening.  Recording bat vocalizations and playing them back for species identification

Pot Luck Dinner and Presentation on Bat Biology (followed by an outdoor bat observation session)

Bats are important beneficial mammals that are currently under stress in the local environment. Kristi will present information on the types of bats that we have in Susquehanna County, PA and the important role they play in the environment.  An update will be given on the White Nose Syndrome that is plaguing some bat colonies in the North East.  Following the presentation and the pot-luck dinner, Kristi will lead those interested in an outdoor session to observe bats and record their vocalizations.

Setting up Bat roosting boxes
Location: Butterfly garden; at the end of South Lake Road, off Rt. 167, on Silver Lake, Brackney, Pa.

We will be placing assembled Bat Roosting boxes at various locations. The boxes will provide roosting and breeding habitat for next year's bat communities. Tools will be provided.

Rose Conservancy Biennial Barn Tour

Local barn restoration expert, John McNamara, will lead the tour.  Five barns will be included in the tour, including one new barn and an extraordinary outdoor fireplace and pergola.  Refreshments will be served.  More information will be forthcoming.  Call Patty Bloomer at 570-663-2346, or Colleen Kane, 570-663-2297 for details and ticket information.
